As everyone knows Veneto is built on a sand bank, which is constantly in threat of sinking. The city is crisscrossed by a canal system and the only mode of transport is by boats. Walking along the canal bank towards St Marks Square, a cement lorry on a barge comes into view, suddenly sirens are sounding and along speeds an ambulance boat..You couldn't make it up!!!
